The collection.
Live-edge pieces are photographed as a board similar to the one you receive. Repeatable designs are made to order by the founder.
Five ways to finish an edge.
| Profile | What it is | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Live edge | The tree's natural edge preserved, every wave and figure kept | Statement dining and coffee tables |
| Radius edge | A soft rounded edge, easy on arms and shins | Family tables, everyday use |
| Squared edge | A crisp 90-degree architectural edge | Modern rooms, consoles, desks |
| Profiled to client | Your own edge drawing, cut to order | Matching existing furniture or millwork |
| Circular | A full round top, no corners at all | Side tables, small dining nooks |
How tables are made here.
Chapter 01 of 04
01
Read the grain first
Before the first cut, the maker decides what the board wants to be. Live edges stay where they grew, figure goes where the eye lands, and butterfly inlays stabilize checks instead of hiding them.
Flitch-cut · figure-matched
02
Flat for decades
Boards are kiln-finished to 8 to 10% moisture and tops are built with movement in mind: breadboard ends, slotted fasteners, and acclimation time in the shop before assembly. Wet winters and dry summers are the test, and they pass it.
8-10% moisture · movement joints
03
Edge profiles
Live edge where the tree allows it, radius for everyday softness, squared for architecture, profiled to your own drawing, or fully circular. Every edge is finished by hand, so the profile reads as made, not machined.

Finished to be used
Spray finish standard on most tables. Heat rings, wine, and homework are expected; the finish is chosen so the table ages into them instead of fighting them.

The room's anchor
A table that outlives the room.
Rooms get repainted, rugs get replaced, sofas get re-covered. A solid timber table just gets better. These are built to move houses with you, absorb decades of dinners, and hand down with the story of the tree written into the provenance card.
- Live-edge pieces sold from a photographed slab similar to yours
- Movement joints keep tops flat through humidity swings
- Spot-repairable finishes, no full refinishing needed
- Provenance card: maker, tree, and where it grew
“Guests ask about the table before they ask about the food. Every single time.”

Who makes your furniture right now
Everything you see is made by the founder, one bench at a time, in Grass Valley.
That's the honest answer. Vior Woodworks is a startup, and today every piece in this collection comes off one bench: reclaimed and ethical timber, hand-cut joinery, plant-oil finishes, and a provenance card with the tree's origin written down.
The rolodex is open. As independent woodsmiths join, their names and their trees take their place here beside the founder's, with the same honesty about who made what.

What owners say.
The live-edge table is the first thing guests ask about. You can read the whole tree in it, and the founder walked us through exactly where it grew.
We designed the conference table in the configurator on a Tuesday, had drawings by Friday, and it anchors the boardroom now.
Six species, standard on every piece
White Oak
The workhorse
Black Walnut
Live-edge favorite
Smoked Oak
Tannin-darkened
Hard Maple
Pale and dense
American Cherry
Ages to rust
Pale Ash
Light and springy grain
Beyond these, explore endless wood species options for your custom orders. Cedar for outdoor work only, mahogany at no surcharge, and figured slabs like goby walnut by request.
Fair questions.
For live-edge pieces, the slab you see is similar to the slab you get — same species and source, photographed before listing. For repeatable designs like the trestle table, the founder builds to order and grain varies, always from the same species and source.
Coasters help but aren't mandatory. Wipe spills, re-oil once a year with the kit we include, and the table will out-patina everything else you own. Deep scratches can be spot-repaired by the maker.
That's the whole point of the configurator. Coffee, dining, end, and sofa tables in any of the five edge profiles, sized to your room, priced instantly.
Most tables run 6 to 10 weeks from confirmed design to delivery. Live-edge slabs are already milled and photographed, so those ship faster once the base is built.
