How the collection works.
Chapter 01 of 04
01
Curated, not crowdsourced
Every maker is vetted in their own workshop before a single piece is listed. We look at joinery, finish, and how the piece has aged in their own home — not just the portfolio shots.

02
Provenance with every piece
Each piece leaves with the maker's name, the tree's origin, and the story of both recorded on a provenance card. You'll know exactly what you're living with, and so will whoever inherits it.
Maker + tree recorded
03
Photographed honestly
We shoot every piece in studio light that shows the grain as it is — no heavy grading, no staged perfection. Live-edge slabs are sold from photographs similar to the board you receive.

Delivered by people who care
Blanket-wrapped, carried in, and placed where you want it. Local delivery is handled by the same team that photographed the piece — not a freight terminal.

Provenance
You'll know the maker and the tree.
Every piece ships with a provenance card: the woodsmith's name, the species, and where the tree grew. Downed trees from the Sierra Nevada foothills through Oregon first, ethical sawmills along the same corridor when we can't reclaim.
- Maker's name on every listing and every delivery
- Tree origin recorded: county, source, and cause of fall
- Consignment priced with the maker, 85% of gross sale to them
- Repair policy: we only repair our own work, forever
“Guests ask about the table before they ask about the food. Every single time.”

Who makes your furniture right now
Everything you see is made by the founder, one bench at a time, in Grass Valley.
That's the honest answer. Vior Woodworks is a startup, and today every piece in this collection comes off one bench: reclaimed and ethical timber, hand-cut joinery, plant-oil finishes, and a provenance card with the tree's origin written down.
The rolodex is open. As independent woodsmiths join, their names and their trees take their place here beside the founder's, with the same honesty about who made what.

What owners say.
The live-edge table is the first thing guests ask about. You can read the whole tree in it, and the founder walked us through exactly where it grew.
Our dog destroyed two big-box crates before this. The kennel looks like furniture, smells like cedar-free oak, and she actually chooses to sleep in it.
We furnished the tasting room with eight pieces from four different makers. Consistent quality, consistent story, zero shipping drama.
The floating shelves carry my full record weight without a hint of sag. The 3-inch walnut was worth every dollar of the upgrade.
Fair questions.
Mostly yes. Live-edge and slab pieces are photographed and sold as the exact board. Repeatable designs (chairs, shelving, small goods) are made to order by the same makers, so grain varies piece to piece.
Downed trees first: storm, disease, or natural falls across Northern California and Oregon, reclaimed with local arborists and landowners. What we can't reclaim comes from ethical sawmills along the same corridor. No clearcuts, ever.
Small goods ship boxed within 2 to 3 weeks. Furniture goes white-glove: we deliver, place, and remove packaging. Most of the continental US is covered; remote areas by quote.
Almost always. Open the Custom Furniture configurator and spec the same piece at your dimensions, or request a consultation and we'll set it up with the maker directly.
