Care guides

Every piece ships with a printed care guide. This is the short version.

Sprayed finishes

Most of what we build leaves the shop under a sprayed conversion varnish. It is a hard, even film, and it wants almost nothing from you: wipe it down with a damp microfibre cloth. No oiling, no waxing, no polish.

Kitchen pieces

Knife holders and cutting boards are finished in Odie's Oil instead, because they meet food. Re-oil them a few times a year, or whenever the surface starts to look dry and pale. Hand wash, towel dry, and never leave them soaking or put them in a dishwasher.

Everything else

• Keep solid timber out of long hours of direct sun and away from a heat vent. Both will move the wood.
• Lift furniture rather than dragging it, and use felt pads under anything that sits on a hard floor.
• Wipe spills when they happen. Most marks lift with a damp cloth and mild soap.
• Wood moves with the seasons. A hairline gap that opens in winter and closes in summer is the piece behaving normally.

If something has gone further than a wipe will fix, talk to us before you reach for a product. We would rather advise than repair.
