Photographing your space

We can show you a piece in your own room before we cut a board. To make the rendering accurate, we need a few photos taken a particular way. Ten minutes with a phone is plenty.

What to send

1. One wide shot of the room. Stand in a corner or doorway and get as much of the room in as you can, including the floor and the wall where the piece will go.
2. One straight-on shot of the spot. Face the wall squarely, camera at chest height, with the whole area the piece will occupy in frame plus a little either side.
3. One shot from each side. Step left and right about 45 degrees and take the same spot again, so we can read depth.
4. A tape measure in the frame. Lay or hold a tape along the wall or floor where the piece will sit, extended to its full width, in at least one photo.
5. The measurements, written down. Wall width, ceiling height, and anything in the way: outlets, vents, windows, baseboard height, door swings.

How to take them

• Use your phone's standard 1x lens. Avoid wide-angle (0.5x) and portrait mode; both bend straight lines.
• Shoot in daylight with the lights on and the blinds open. No flash.
• Hold the phone upright and level. Keep vertical lines like door frames straight up and down.
• Clear the spot if you can. If something is staying next to the piece, like a bed or sofa, leave it in; it helps us get the scale right.
• Send the original files, not screenshots, so the detail and size information survive.

For an existing piece of ours

If you already own a Vior piece and would like to share it, take it the same way: straight on, from each side, and one close-up of the grain in natural light. Tell us if we may use the photos on the site.

Reply to your order or consultation email with the photos attached, or send them through the contact page with your name and the piece you are thinking about. We will come back with a rendering and any questions.
